Best for new queens starting a new colony or has a small colony.

The feeding area has a 3D printed lid with a mesh pattern for ventilation.
The nest area has a clear flat lid, not to be removed unless necessary, because it really disturbs the ants.

Slowly* drop a few drops of water into the side slot of the farm to fill the hidden reservoir to raise humidity inside of the nest. The color of the plaster will darken when wet.
Since everyones home & surrounding environment is different- as long as the entire hidden reservoir area is darken evenly, this means there is enough water inside. Just continue to add a drop or 2 at a time every week or so (depends on your environment) so keep the humidity up in the nest.
To start just add 1 drop at a time and wait about 3-5 seconds before adding the next drop - until the color of the plaster has changed evenly across
*** if you see that water is not getting absorbed into the nest- this means:
*air bubbles* are accidentally dropped in. Air bubbles will prevent water from being able to go down the small well. If that happens, just use a napkin to soak up the water floating from the well & drop the water down the well again carefully.

pH balanced Plaster (nontoxic material - safe for ants) is used because it mimics natural hard soil & its ability to absorb just enough moisture without getting mushy/ soft
